Joe Sutter Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Joe Sutter (1921-1916), known as the father of the Boeing 747, recently in London received The Guild Award of Honor, the highest honor possible from the Guild of Air Navigators and Pilots (GAPAN). This honor is "awarded on rare occasions to individuals who have made an outstanding lifetime contribution to aviation."  Sutter, 83, and a Boeing consultant since retiring in 1986, is considered one of the preeminent aircraft designers of his time and has received numerous awards for guiding the development of the Boeing family of jet airliners.
